Lodging and Camping
The Circle Bar Guest Ranch is a full service guest ranch (406)423-5363. Capacity is 60 people in 10 cabins and 5 hotel rooms. Room cost is $70/person/night. A meal package (3 meals/day) can also be purchased. Horse back riding, a pool/hot tub and laundry services are available .
Gumbo Flats Farm Bed & Breakfast is an operating farm that grows wheat and barley. There are wide open spaces to view wildlife and birds and go for long relaxing meditative walks.
The Judith River Ranger Station was built in the early 1900s and served as a ranger station for many years. The log cabin sleeps 8 – 10. There are also four campsites at the same location. There is no electricity at this site, but propane lanterns are available, and a stove is available for cooking. Meals and laundry service are available at the Circle Bar.
Ackley Lake State Park is a 160 acre primitive park with 15 camping spots for RVs and tents. In addition there are vault toilets, picnic tables, and fire rings. There are two boat ramps available. Because there is no potable water there are no camping fees.

Travel to the Montana Bale Trail – What the Hay
Flying — Great Falls is the closest airport to the Bale Trail-about 80 miles. However, Billings and Bozeman airports are within an easy driving distance. Rental Cars – Alamo, National, Hertz and Dollar Rental Cars are available. RVs are available for rent in Bozeman and Billings.
Amtrak Train – You can plan to arrive by train by disembarking in Havre. The Havre station is closest to the Montana Bale Trail – What the Hay (about 3 hours driving). Rental cars are available in Havre with pickup at the train station.
